Sac State Mild/Moderate Program Overview: Level I Educational Specialist Credential, Level II, and M.A.

LEVEL I Coursework & Field Experience (53-Units)

Total Level I Core Units includes 15-units of student teaching experiences; a candidate may meet many of these state requirements in their own place of special education employment. Total units may be appreciably less based upon equivalencies granted by a departmental advisor per previous experiences, university courses, and credentials held by a candidate.

Candidates may attend the program full-time or part-time. The Mild/Moderate Educational Specialist Credential Program can be completed in four full-time semesters. Internships are available: check with the EDS Office for guidelines.

These Field Experiences are not required if granted current equivalency by an assigned Sac State advisor. However, the EDS 232 Seminar is required for all candidates.

LEVEL II Coursework and Field Experience

LEVEL II PROGRAM:Level 1 must be entirely completed. Candidate must be in an approved Special Education situation. HLSC 136 and/or EDS 291A/B must be completed by the end of Level II.
