These leaders will:

  • Be visionary change agents
  • Create collaborative learning communities
  • Engage in reflective practice
  • Ensure diversity and equity
  • Implement research-based practices and site-based best practices
  • Build capacity through leadership development

Goals

The Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies has twin goals related to equity and quality.

Equity

Underrepresented students are encouraged to apply for admission into the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. Once admitted, faculty and staff will provide needed support and encouragement.

Faculty members of the department will seek underrepresented individuals to become faculty members to ensure that students are exposed to different perspectives.

Quality

Faculty will adhere to rigorous admission standards-admitting only those with potential to be effective administrators.

Faculty will keep abreast of new developments with particular interest in one’s field and issues related to multicultural education.
