Application Deadlines

Individuals interested in any of the department's programs must complete an online application to the Office of Graduate Studies. In addition, a supplemental department application for the appropriate program must be completed. Your application must be complete by the closing date – all transcripts, test scores, and documents must be received by both the Office of Graduate Studies and the department by the close of business on the final application filing date. Applicant interviews will be scheduled as soon as applicant files are completed.

Each cohort requires a minimum of 20 students. In the event that a cohort is not filled, accepted applicants will be offered opportunities to join another available cohort, or to delay admissions to a future semester.

Application Procedures

Prospective EDLP students must file the following with the Office of Graduate Studies, Riverfront Center 206, (916) 278-6470:

    1. An online application ($55) that can be accessed at http://www.csumentor.edu/admissionapp.

      1. Proceed to CSU Mentor and create an account to start application process.

      2. Review the Application Information and click on "Begin Application" to proceed to the application.

      3. Select the appropriate "Term applying for:"

      4. Under "Major/ Program Objective:" please select either "Education CREDENTIAL Only)."

      5. In the Credential's section, please select "Prel Adm Cred.

      6. If you DO NOT have a Master's Degree; and you would like to pursue it or both the Credential and Masters, under "Major/ Program Objective:" please select "Education (Educational Leadership & Policy Studies)."select "MA" in the "Degree Objective" field.

      7. If you are planning to pursue a degree in Higher Education Student Services or Community College, under "Major/ Program Objective:" please select "Education (Higher Education)."select "MA" in the "Degree Objective" field.

      8. Complete the "Previous Application/Attendance" section if applicable.

      9. Click on "Next" at the bottom of the page and proceed with completing your personal and college information.
    2. One set of official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, other than Sacramento State must be mailed to the Office of Graduate Studies:

    3. At the same time, each applicant must forward the following to the EDLP Department Office in the College of Education:

      1. The EDLP supplemental application, including Supervisor's Rating forms;

      2. Typed 2-page statement of purpose;

      3. Typed Resumé detailing education and professional experience; Must include 2+ years of teaching experience if applying for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.

      4. Provide evidence for possession of a CA Teaching Credential (K-12), CA Multiple Subjects Credential, CA Pupil Personnel Credential, CA Librarianship Credential, CA School Nurse Credential or a CA Clinical/Rehabilitative Services Credential. Only required if applying for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.

      5. Provide evidence of registration for or completion of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST). Only required if applying for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.

      6. One set of Unofficial transcripts, including any from Sacramento State.

      * Please note that the WPG is not required for admission into any EDLP program and is met by taking the required course: EDLP 250 - Educational Research.
